Receiving a sincere and gracious compliment can leave you feeling buoyant, confident and spirited.

That’s why we think we should all practice the habit more often.

Living and breathing design, jewellery and beauty, we’re adept at observing the art of giving and receiving compliments.  We’ve come up with the following reasons we think we should all give more compliments.

Giving a compliment can;

1. Make someone’s day – it is simply a nice thing to do 2. Increase the positivity around you – focusing on the positives in others expands your own positivity 3. Increase your attractiveness – positivity, appreciation and genuinely expressing yourself are three attractive traits that people will want to be around 4. Spark a feeling of fun and warmth inside of you – you will feel good about giving a compliment 5. Create a habit of appreciation – this will allow you to discover the positive in all the things around you.

Make someone’s day

Importantly, we believe that the key to giving a compliment is sincerity. Make sure there is genuine feeling behind your words otherwise we recommend not giving the compliment at all.

Sincerity is the key to a great compliment.

When receiving a compliment, remember to;

1. Stand tall – don’t shrink away, accept your compliment with confidence 2. Smile widely – the compliment is meant to make you feel good. Smiling will make the person giving the compliment feel great too 3. Thank graciously – a simple thank you is the best way to return a compliment

Whether you are from the school of “Art imitates life” or “Life imitates Art”, it is undeniable that all things of beauty, of human creation, are not conceived before inspiration takes place.

Whether it’s a voice, an action, an element of nature, a photograph, a painting, a word, a thought, a colour, a person, a sound, a landscape, there are thousands of sources of inspiration that we consciously and unconsciously process every day.

This phenomenon of inspiration is well illustrated by the example of a creative genius we love – iconic Australian film director, screenwriter and producer Baz Luhrmann.

Born in Sydney to a ballroom dance teacher/dress shop owner mother and a movie theatre owner father, Baz was raised in a tiny rural settlement in rural New South Wales and was an avid ballroom dancer as a child. His childhood influences together with his love of Italian grand opera and Bollywood films have seen Baz create his incredible films Strictly Ballroom, Moulin Rouge, Romeo and Juliet and Australia as well as a unique signature that is common to his each of his works.

As designers of bespoke jewellery, we have an immense appreciation of inspiration and its part in our design process.

We’ve been busy creating our next collection and we can’t wait to share the story of our new collection with you.

We love entertaining at home! It’s not just the sitting down with good company, enjoying great food and wine and creating a decadent ambience at home, we delight in the ritual of preparing the meal, our home and ourselves.

Our ritual begins in the morning with a trip to the market to buy fresh ingredients for our culinary creations and some cut flowers to adorn the entry hall and dinner table. Our pick? Stylish white tulips. Flowers make us want to sing and can change the dynamic of a room not only with their beautiful aesthetic, but also their delightful scent and whimsical nature.

After meticulously styling the apartment, we excitedly approach the task of styling our outfit. Just think, without the trepidation of a walk to find a taxi at the end of the evening, hosting a dinner party could lend perfectly to wearing your gloriously high heels – we love our Jimmy Choos.
